Executive Mosaic is honored to announce Stanley McChrystal, co-founder and partner at the McChrystal Group, as the latest inductee into the Wash100, the premier group of leaders who drive innovation and growth at the intersection of the public and private sectors.
McChrystal is a retired U.S. Army General who most recently served as the commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan.
He served in Desert Shield, Desert Storm and Saudi Arabia during the Persian Gulf War and led the joint special operations command from 2003-2008.
While heading the JSOC, McChrystal oversaw the capture of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein and is credited with the elimination of al-Qaeda in Iraq leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
“It’s always about the people,” McChrystal said after his retirement from the Army.
“It was about the soldiers who were well trained; the young sergeants who emerged from the ranks with strength, discipline, commitment and courage. To have shared so much with, and been so dependent on people of such courage, integrity and selflessness, taught me to believe,” he said.
McChrystal serves as a senior fellow at Yale University’s Jackson Institute for Global Affairs military and was a fellow for the Council on Foreign Relations in 1999.
“Over the past decade, no single American has inflicted more fear and more loss of life on our country’s most vicious and violent enemies than Stan McChrystal,” said Robert Gates, former secretary of defense, when speaking about McChrystal.
“Commanding special operation forces in Afghanistan and Iraq, Stan was a pioneer in creating a revolution in warfare that fused intelligence and operations,” Gates added.
Executive Mosaic extends its congratulations to Stanley McChrystal and the rest of the McChrystal Group organization.
