Paul Cofoni, PAE Executive Chairman and Former CACI CEO, Elected to the Wash100

Paul Cofoni

Executive Mosaic is honored to announce Paul Cofoni, executive chairman at PAE and former president and CEO of CACI International, as the newest inductee into the Wash100, the premier group of leaders who drive innovation and growth at the intersection of the public and private sectors.

He took the chairman role at Arlington, Va.-based PAE in June 2013, nearly six months after retiring from CACI after a seven-year stint there that included five years as president and chief executive.

Under Cofoni’s leadership, CACI grew from a $1.6 billion services and solutions provider in 2005 to a contracting giant that generates close to $4 billion in revenue across the intelligence, defense, homeland security, IT and business transformation markets.

The more than 30-year senior executive leader worked with Dr. Jack London, CACI’s Executive Chairman, to manage CACI’s corporate development and M&A program, and first joined the company as president of U.S. operations.

“What’s so rewarding about working for our clients is that we’re helping them solve their biggest problems,” Cofoni told ExecutiveBiz in a December 2011 interview. “Cyber warfare, for example, is a growing threat to our nation and our way of life, so we’re expanding our cybersecurity practice.”

“It comes back to the need to capitalize on our thinking and innovate to find better ways of doing things,” he later added. “If you look at the history of our country, what has really catapulted us forward has almost always been innovation and export.”

Prior to joining CACI, Cofoni led Computer Sciences Corp.’s federal sector operations, where he helped grow sector revenue by close to 50 percent over four years to greater than $5 billion.

Cofoni began his private sector career in 1974 after serving as an officer in the U.S. Army. He spent 17 years with General Dynamics, rising to hold responsibility for all IT services in General Dynamics’ aerospace, shipbuilding and land combat divisions.

Cofoni continues to serve the Washington community as chairman of the Professional Services Council. He has also previously chaired the board of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) International, where he is a permanent board member.

Executive Mosaic extends its congratulations to Paul.
