Executive Mosaic is honored to announce Clay Hale, senior vice president and chief financial officer at Siemens Government Technologies, as the newest inductee into the Washington 100, the premier group of leaders who drive innovation and growth at the intersection of the public and private sectors.
Hale has worked for Siemens for nearly two decades and has served in his current leadership role since April 2012, where he has responsibility for financial reporting, accounting, compliance and communications with leaders in the larger Siemens organization.
He says Siemens Government began as a “start-up” opportunity within the German-based firm where a new leadership team could strictly focus on profitable growth with the aid of Siemens’ numerous offerings from each of its sectors.
“We can sell any product or service in Siemens’ entire portfolio to the US government. We have the opportunity to leverage all of the good things about being and thinking as a big enterprise, while simultaneously acting small and nimble,” Hale told GovCon Exec.
Siemens work with the federal government didn’t begin with the creation of Siemens Government, far from it, but it has been an opportunity for the company to consolidate its knowledge and public sector sales force into one organization.
“Siemens Government Technologies delivers value by collaborating with the Siemens division, implementing our proven processes and strategic account management,” he told ExecutiveBiz last February.
“We don’t always see the direct sale or the direct revenue but we get an assist and that counts as much as a score,” he added.
A recent example of this process was the installation of the U.S. Army’s largest solar field at White Sands Missile Range which Hale’s organization helped execute.
Hale says it will reduce carbon emissions by 7,400 tons and that the energy produced will be green and renewable.
“I have had the opportunity to learn much more about government contracting and also to actively work with all of Siemens sectors, allowing me to grow both personally and professionally,” Hale said.
He is excited about the future of the federal business and its slew of accomplished leaders which include Judy Marks, chief executive, and Stanley McChrystal, chairman of the board.
Hale listed improving the quality of healthcare for returning soldiers, constructing more efficient buildings and providing renewable energy resources as some of the reasons he believes his organization is so essential for the U.S. taxpayer.
This year represents our fifth annual Wash100 award selection. The Wash100 is the premier group of private and public sector leaders selected by Executive Mosaic's organizational and editorial leadership as the most influential leaders in the GovCon sector. These leaders demonstrate skills in leadership, innovation, achievement, and vision.
