Kay Kapoor, President of AT&T Government Solutions, Elected to Wash100 for GovCon Company Building and Technological Prowess
Executive Mosaic is honored to announce Kay Kapoor, president of AT&T Government Solutions, as the newest inductee into the Wash 100, the premier group of leaders who create value for the American public and execute strategic vision at the intersection of the public and private sectors.
Kapoor took on her current post in March 2013 and has assembled a leading cast of former government CIOs to strengthen her leadership team, bringing in Wash100 awardees Chris Smith, former CIO of the Department of Agriculture, and Casey Coleman from her CIO role at the General Services Administration.
“The federal government is going through a technological transformation, embracing mobile and cloud solutions while combating new cyber security threats to our nation’s infrastructure,” Kapoor said, noting later in 2013 that “as budgets tighten, our customers want more flexibility to find much needed cost savings with wireless services and devices.”
Kapoor arrived at AT&T after establishing a Federal Advisory Board and overseeing every aspect of Accenture’s federal business as chief executive at Accenture Federal Services. “Focus and execution have always been my key priorities, so it was important to me that we conduct a fresh federal strategy for the business, to focus on what we do well that would better support what our clients wanted and needed,” she told ExecutiveBiz about how she approached that post.
Kapoor joined Accenture from ITT’s advanced information systems business, where she was responsible for the technical and financial performance of the firm’s defense, intelligence and civilian contracts. That followed 20 years at Lockheed Martin, most recently leading 13,000 employees and overseeing 850 federal contracts as vice president and deputy of Lockheed’s federal civilian business.
As she looks forward, Kapoor noted that “government leaders are being asked to do ‘more with less’ and sometimes ‘less with less’…definitely ‘more innovation with less’. We are seeing strategic cost-management initiatives among our clients and smaller investments focused on reducing operational costs.
“This reality creates an opportunity for us to offer truly innovative, cost-savings solutions to our customers as they build the government of the future during today’s tremendous economic and global challenges.”
Executive Mosaic extends its congratulations to Kay and the rest of AT&T Government Solutions organization.
