Executive Mosaic is honored to announce Dennis Muilenburg, vice chairman, president and chief operating officer of The Boeing Company, as the newest inductee into the Wash 100, the premier group of leaders who create value for the American public and execute strategic vision at the intersection of the public and private sectors.
Muilenberg joined Boeing in 1985 and held a number of high-level leadership positions prior to taking on his current roles, including president and CEO of Boeing Defense, Space & Security; president of BDS’s $8 billion Global Services & Support business; and vice president and general manager of Boeing Combat Systems
Part of Muilenberg’s current focus on “specific growth enablers” as part of his president and COO duties is fostering global relationships, and Muilenberg has often provided insight into how the company’s international ventures expand upon establish histories – and position the firm for the future.
“Opportunities around the globe are there,” Muilenberg told Bloomberg in late 2012.
“We see more of our U.S. competitors being present and also more emerging entrants” as military spending increases in the Middle East, Asia and Latin America.
In 2013, Boeing partnered with RER Hydro, a Montreal-based manufacturer of power generation technology, to build hydrokinetic turbines for the Quebec provincial government.
Muilenberg noted that the agreement built on Boeing’s “long-term, strategic partnership with Canada, supporting customers from aerospace and defense to clean energy.”
Muilenberg also noted Boeing has maintained a presence in Australia for 86 years when it added an Austrlian supplier for a munition program in 2013, calling it “another example of how Boeing’s investment in technology and innovation in Australia is paying off for industry and our customers.”
Muilenberg manages several Boeing-wide processes and activities, including One-Boeing strategies and execution across the enterprise, and is also responsible for leadership initiatives and development program performance.
