U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
Executive Mosaic is honored to introduce Veterans Affairs Secretary Bob McDonald, for a second consecutive year, as the newest inductee into the 2016 edition of the Wash100 — Executive Mosaic’s annual selection of influential leaders in the government contracting arena.
McDonald told the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee in January hearing that customer service improvement within the VA would be his objective for 2016.
He also noted that the department’s MyVA restructuring plan seeks to update the VA website and contact centers, expand healthcare options and expedite the benefits appeals process.
In November 2015, he oversaw the launch of the VA Innovators Network that aims to provide the department’s employees with a collaboration platform on the development and assessment of best practices for the delivery of healthcare services to veterans.
“If we are serious about innovation and delivering value to veterans, we must invest in the beating heart of our organization—our employees,” he said of the new network.
VA also unveiled Vets.gov, an online tool that aims to help veterans access information and apply for disability and education benefits.
Before he moved to the federal government, McDonald served as CEO of consumer goods company Procter & Gamble for four years until his June 2013 retirement and worked at P&G for 33 years in other executive and managerial roles.
He is a U.S. Army veteran who served as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division while in active duty.
Executive Mosaic congratulates Bob McDonald and the VA team for their selection to receive this award.
