Beth Cobert, Acting OPM Director, Chosen to 2016 Wash100 for Federal Cyber & IT Modernization Vision
Executive Mosaic is honored to introduce Beth Cobert, acting director of the Office of Personnel Management, as an inductee into the 2016 edition of the Wash100 — Executive Mosaic’s annual selection of influential leaders in the government contracting arena.
Cobert has served as OPM’s interim leader since July 2015 and President Barack Obama announced plans in November 2015 to nominate Cobert as full-time director of the agency.
In response to recent data breaches at OPM, the agency has begun to issue notifications to federal employees and contractors to provide them with personalized identification numbers that can be used to enroll in theft insurance and identity restoration services.
OPM and the Defense Department announced in November 2015 they would partner to set up a verification center that aims to help contractor and federal workers check if they are affected by the recent data intrusions.
Prior to OPM, Cobert served as deputy director for management at the Office of Management and Budget.
During her tenure at OMB, she said that agile customer service and technology are among the priorities of the U.S. government’s modernization programs.
“Smarter information technology, efficient customer service, the U.S. Digital Service, and new talent and approaches are combining to deliver in a modern way that is agile,” she said at the Excellence in Government conference in May 2015.
Cobert worked for nearly three decades at consulting firm McKinsey & Co. before she entered the public sector.
Executive Mosaic congratulates Beth Cobert and the OPM team for their selection to receive this award.
