Curt Kolcun, Microsoft US Public Sector VP, Named to 2017 Wash100 for Govt Cloud Collaboration Leadership

Executive Mosaic is pleased to introduce Curt Kolcun, vice president of the U.S. public sector at Microsoft, as an inductee into the 2017 edition of the Wash100 — Executive Mosaic’s annual selection of influential leaders in the government contracting industry.

The 28-year Microsoft veteran oversees all contracting, sales and marketing efforts for the company’s U.S. public sector and education markets.

In an October 2016 article, he announced the launch of new programs and services by Microsoft that aim to facilitate the adoption of cloud platforms by government agencies, such as the Azure Government Marketplace and the Operations Management Suite portal for Azure Government cloud users.

Others company initiatives that he cited include the Azure Government preview program for clients across the Defense Department and Microsoft’s partnership with Red Hat that intends to facilitate migration to the Azure Government cloud platform.

In December 2016, DoD tapped Microsoft to provide enterprise technical support for the department’s blue badge cardholder services under a potential five-year, $927 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.

Prior to his current role, Kolcun spent five years as VP of the software company’s U.S. federal business and three years as practice manager for the firm’s federal consulting segment.

He joined Microsoft in 1989 as a systems engineer and elevated to the roles of pre-sales architectural engineer at the company’s federal business and e-government director.

Kolcun worked as a product support engineer and systems engineer at NBI Inc. prior to his move to Microsoft.

Executive Mosaic congratulates Curt Kolcun and the Microsoft team for their selection to receive this award.
