Army CIO Raj Iyer Presented 2nd Consecutive Wash100 Award By Executive Mosaic CEO Jim Garrettson

Raj Iyer, chief information officer of the U.S. Army, was officially presented his 2022 Wash100 Award, the highest honor in all of government contracting (GovCon), during the Potomac Officers Club's 3rd Annual CIO Summit where Iyer was featured as an expert panelist.

Executive Mosaic CEO Jim Garrettson presented the second consecutive Wash100 Award to Iyer for his leadership and significant efforts to align service technology, processes and culture with the everchanging digital landscape to achieve overmatch in joint multidomain operations.

During his recent appearance for Potomac Officers Club, Raj Iyer explained his first-hand experiences regarding the latest IT modernization efforts impacting our service branches and how the U.S. Army will be utilizing artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities to perform analytics and maintenance work to ensure our warfighters are equipped at all times.

Iyer also detailed how AI will be used on the high end for analytics at the edge for operations like target recognition, ISR and eventually, fusing intelligence data to operations. He also discussed the importance of predictive analytics to integrate the most complex parts back into the supply chain process as well as ensure the latest tools are available for our warfighters.

In addition, Raj Iyer commented on the current administration’s recent cybersecurity executive order and its impact on driving digital security standards for federal companies as well as government agencies and our service branches. Iyer emphasized that the White House’s EO has recognized the need for a strong connection between cybersecurity capabilities and cloud computing.

“That doesn’t mean just moving to the cloud makes you somehow automatically more secure,” Iyer explained. “You still have to make sure that you build in the right cybersecurity controls even into a cloud environment, but when done right, the cloud is inherently a lot more secure and resilient than any of our on-premises computing.”

He also addressed the commercial cloud, the U.S. Army’s Risk Management Framework and how the service branch is facing the challenges to clarify the proper cyber-related responsibilities as the federal landscape adapts to the EO’s set of standards.

Raj Iyer will provide the keynote address for GovCon Wire Events during the second annual Army IT and Digital Transformation Forum on June 15. For his upcoming keynote address, the two-time Wash100 Award recipient will explore how the Army is leveraging a 21st-century approach to build up a ready, lethal and modern force that can win the battles of tomorrow.

Visit GovCon Wire Events to register for the upcoming forum on June 15 and learn more about how the U.S. Army is undergoing a transformational era of modernization and adapting to complex geopolitical developments as they continue to evolve.

Executive Mosaic is thrilled to recognize Army CIO Raj Iyer as a two-time winner of the most prestigious and coveted award in all of GovCon. Iyer has demonstrated a level of success and contribution to the GovCon sector that can only be recognized by the Wash100 Award.
