BigBear.ai to Work on AFRL’s Composable Collaborative Planning Prototype; GovCon Expert Reggie Brothers Quoted

BigBear.ai has received a Notice of Intent to Award the company a two-year contract from the Air Force Research Laboratory for a composable collaborative planning prototype.

The Project AURORA will give the AFRL an opportunity to use BigBear.ai’s Observe, Orient and Dominate artificial intelligence-powered platforms to speed up the joint planning decision cycle, accelerate the use of automated technology platforms and create a shared data ecosystem in support of service, joint planners and action officers, the company said Thursday.

“We are excited to collaborate with the Air Force Research Laboratory on this important project and are confident that this prototype effort will demonstrate how our platforms intelligently leverage data to achieve decision dominance, which we believe will be a game changer for the Joint Planning community,” said Dr. Reggie Brothers, CEO of BigBear.ai, a GovCon Expert and 2021 Wash100 Award recipient.

The company's three platforms can be used independently or in conjunction with a customer’s existing technology. Observe deals with data ingestion and conflation; Orient is composable machine learning at scale; and Dominate works on visual anticipatory intelligence and optimization.

Work is expected to establish the technological foundation to incorporate advanced computing capabilities, including machine learning, robotic process automation and natural language processing.

BigBear.ai has teamed with other industry leaders QLIK, Appian, KNIME and Neo4j to develop a modernized, rapidly deployable and extensible platform. The AFRL selected BigBear.ai for Project AURORA because of the companies’ collective success with similar efforts.

The prototyping effort is scheduled to commence in late September.
