Leidos Chairman, CEO Roger Krone Presented Eighth Consecutive Wash100 Award By Executive Mosaic CEO Jim Garrettson

Executive Mosaic CEO Jim Garrettson presented the eighth consecutive Wash100 Award to Roger Krone, chairman and CEO of Leidos, during a recent visit on Monday to Leidos’ office in Reston, VA.

In the highly prestigious eight-year history of the Wash100 Award, Krone is the only executive to receive the highest honor in government contracting (GovCon) every year since the inception of the Wash100 Award in 2014.

For his most recent win, Krone was recognized with a 2021 Wash100 Award for his pursuit of major acquisitions and competitive contracts that have driven company growth and cemented Leidos’ position as a leader in the federal sector.

Following an overwhelmingly successful year in 2020 that included the integration of Dynetics and the acquisition of the 1901 Group to expand its cloud, IT services and digital modernization capabilities, Krone emphasized in Feb. 2021 that Leidos would continue pursuing mergers and acquisitions amid the consolidation and competition for big information technology contracts within the federal market.

Since then, Leidos has acquired engineering and design firm Gibbs & Cox for $380 million to expand into the maritime market and add engineering talent to its team. Krone specifically noted how the acquisition would help Leidos broaden its maritime business and add marine engineering, naval architecture, 3D modeling and design and other services to the set of capabilities the company offers to customers.

“In addition to being positioned on the front end of next generation vessels, the business combination provides significant tailwinds for participation in the maritime unmanned market and accelerates Gibbs & Cox expansion in the undersea domain,” Krone explained.

Under Krone’s leadership, the company has also secured multiple major contracts throughout the first half of 2021, including a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) prime contract worth $480 million to provide Multi-Energy Portal (MEP) systems for non-intrusive inspection (NII) of commercial vehicles in April 2021 as well as a $2.5 billion contract to support NASA’s global enterprise IT operations on Monday.

With 2021 nearing the halfway point, Leidos continues to demonstrate the most elite level of excellence in the GovCon and federal sectors with Roger Krone leading the way to drive company growth and innovation for the rest of the year and beyond.

Executive Mosaic congratulates Roger Krone and Leidos for his 2021 Wash100 Award. Krone has won a Wash100 Award each year of the award’s history, which makes him the most decorated leader in GovCon and demonstrates his unparalleled commitment to continued excellence for our community.
