Commenting on Heneghan’s latest Wash100 win, Jim Garrettson, CEO of Executive Mosaic and founder of the Wash100 Award, said, “John has led ECS to incredible heights and maintained that organizational success for many years now. Under his leadership, ECS was awarded a massive half-a-billion-dollar contract with CISA, proving once again that the company is a key player in federal cybersecurity. Beyond the wins, John has built a culture of collaboration, forging partnerships with NSA, Cyware, C3 AI and others to drive innovation forward. With ECS’ deep expertise in AI, cloud, cybersecurity and IT modernization—plus a recent GSA contract focused on government efficiency—they’re primed for this moment. With John at the helm, we know they’ll continue to lead the way.”
“It’s a privilege to be named to the Wash100 once again,” remarked Heneghan. “ECS’ teams are committed to helping our clients achieve more secure, efficient and effective operations across a variety of mission areas, from defense to homeland security to federal health. That includes frontier AI and machine learning capabilities, digital modernization strategies and SecOps and zero-trust security in a wide range of environments,” he added.
Leveraging Strategic Partnerships to Drive Security and Health
In 2024, ECS forged significant partnerships pivotal to the company’s success and solidified Heneghan’s latest Wash100 accolade.
ECS expanded its partnership with Cyware by integrating the latter’s Cyber Fusion capabilities into ECS’s security operations, enhancing its managed security services. This enables ECS analysts to utilize advanced tools for cyber threat investigation, response, security automation and notifications.
The company also collaborated with C3 AI to modernize the U.S. Army’s critical information collection management processes. The initiative provides the groundwork for streamlined, predictive intelligence operations, including tasking, collection, processing and delivery.
ECS partnered with SAS early this year to provide health AI services to address clinician burnout, bolster supply chains, enhance patient scheduling processes and optimize contact center support.
“With a focus on human-centric design, accountability and transparency, SAS and ECS will deliver flexible, high-impact, data-driven solutions that help our federal customers respond proactively to emerging challenges and drive their missions forward,” said Heneghan.
ECS Secures Major Contracts
ECS was one of two companies awarded a potential five-year, $1.1 billion blanket purchase agreement by the National Institutes of Health in August to procure IT support services for the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
In November, the IT systems integrator landed a potential six-year, $528 million task order from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. Under the contract, the company will provide data services and integration support to the Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation Program Office, enabling the development of a comprehensive data integration system.
ECS was named a prime contractor under the General Services Administration’s One Acquisition Solution for Integrated Services Plus, or OASIS+, multi-award contract. Through this agreement, ECS received awards from federal agencies in multiple domains, including management and advisory, technical and engineering, research and development, intelligence services and enterprise solutions.
ECS Awards During Heneghan’s Tenure
ECS was named an Amazon Web Services Managed Service Provider for the 10th year in a row, a testament to the company’s commitment to providing AWS cloud services to customers.
“Whether we’re modernizing legacy systems, enhancing cybersecurity or driving digital transformation, we’re committed to helping our government customers stay ahead of the curve and achieve their goals,” remarked Heneghan.
ECS not only values its partnerships but also its employees. The company has been consistently named one of the best workplaces in the industry, winning its seventh Top Workplaces award from The Washington Post last year.
Furthermore, the company received a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Honor Award for its Incident Response and Breach Response Support team that boosted breach and incident response times while enhancing CMS security teams’ efficiency.
Executive Mosaic congratulates Heneghan and the rest of the hardworking team at ECS for winning the 2025 Wash100 Award.
