Matthew Steckman Wins 1st Wash100 Award for Accelerating Growth of Anduril’s Business

Executive Mosaic is pleased to announce that Matthew Steckman of Anduril Industries has been named to the 2025 class of the Wash100 Award, a prestigious accolade given out annually to the 100 most influential and impactful members of the government and the government contracting industry in recognition of their accomplishments and in anticipation of future contributions.

Matthew Steckman’s Professional Background

Steckman has been with Anduril since 2018 and currently serves as president and chief business officer, positions that he took on just this January. In these roles, Steckman is responsible for overseeing the company’s core internal functions and driving the company’s strategic direction. His prior employers include Zipline International, where he served as chief revenue officer, and Palantir Technologies, where he headed business operations.

Steckman’s Inaugural Wash100 Win

2025 marks the first year that the Wash100 Award has been conferred on Steckman. Regarding this achievement, Executive Mosaic CEO and Wash100 founder Jim Garrettson said, “Matthew has been at the heart of Anduril’s meteoric rise, joining the defense tech disruptor just a year after its founding and helping turn it into one of the most closely watched names in GovCon. Now president and chief business officer, Matthew has played a central role in Anduril’s recent wave of major wins — from a $250 million DOD contract to a $1.5 billion funding round and the launch of Arsenal, a defense production facility.”

“With roots at Palantir and a sharp eye for what’s next, Matthew earns his first Wash100 as a standout in a new era of national security innovation,” Garrettson added.

For his part, Steckman said on LinkedIn, “Humbled to be named on Executive Mosaic’s Wash100 list. 7 years into my journey at Anduril and I still wake up motivated every day to bring the best of America’s technology industry to the warfighter.”

Anduril’s Contract With the DOD

With Steckman’s help, Anduril secured a contract from the Department of Defense in October 2024 for advanced air defense capabilities. The contract, worth $250 million, called for the delivery of 500 units of the Roadrunner system, a vertical takeoff and landing autonomous air vehicle that works to intercept unmanned aerial systems.

The contract also called for the provision Pulsar capabilities. Pulsar is a family of electronic warfare systems developed by Anduril and powered by artificial intelligence.

The capabilities are meant to be deployed at various operational sites to protect U.S. forces.

Investments in Anduril

Also with Steckman’s help, the defense industry company in August raised $1.5 billion during its Series F investment round, which was co-led by Founders Fund and Sands Capital and saw participation from various new and existing investors, including Fidelity Management & Research Company, Counterpoint Global and Baillie Gifford. Anduril said the new funds would be used for hiring, process enhancements, tooling upgrades and supply chain resiliency.

Anduril’s Arsenal Platform and Factory

The funding would also be used for the development of Arsenal, a software-defined manufacturing platform that will work to mass-produce autonomous systems and weapons. To house the platform, a factory called Arsenal-1 will be built. Anduril said this January that the facility will be constructed next to Rickenbacker Airport in Columbus, Ohio.

As part of Anduril’s leadership team, Steckman has already made an impact on the company’s success. His continuing contributions will undoubtedly to propel the company to further success in the future.

Congratulations to Matthew Steckman and his team for this inaugural Wash100 win!
