Vote for Peter LaMontagne as one of your 10 favorite government industry leaders at Wash100.com. The popular vote competition of the 2025 Wash100 Award runs through April 30.

Jim Garrettson, CEO of Executive Mosaic and founder of the Wash100 Award, said of LaMontagne, “2025 marks Peter’s Wash100 debut, and he’s making a splashy entrance. As CEO of SMX, Peter is steering the company through a period of massive growth, including securing a $3.2 billion task order to support Special Operations Forces in the Indo-Pacific and acquiring cBEYONData to expand SMX’s public sector tech offerings.”

Commenting on his first-ever Wash100 recognition, LaMontagne said, “SMX is scaling fast and succeeding for two main reasons: our sharp focus on tech intensive solutions that accelerate mission success and hiring the best and brightest talent in the industry. We are also embracing new ways of doing business, transforming traditional service delivery models that bring faster and more cost-effective impact. Our steadfast commitment to our clients remains our guiding principle. The future looks very bright for SMX!”

Notable Contract Awards

Under LaMontagne’s leadership, SMX was named a prime contractor on a potential seven-year, $3.2 billion Long-Range Enterprise Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Activity task order. The award was made by the General Services Administration Assisted Acquisition Services under its Data Operations Pool ASTRO contract.

“The LEIA contract represents another key milestone for SMX as we expand our portfolio of high-impact mission-focused programs supporting Global Combatant Commands and other priority National Security clients,” LaMontagne said at the time of the award.

Other notable contracts secured by SMX include a spot on a potential 10-year, $2 billion Foundation Cloud Hosting Services 2 contract from the Department of the Interior; eight-year, $8 billion Supplies and Support Services 2 contract from the FBI; and a five-year, $79.4 million Cloud Governance and Administration of Technology and Engineering contract from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission through GSA’s Alliant 2 acquisition vehicle.

Leading SMX Expansion Through M&A Activity

LaMontagne also led SMX’s recent acquisition of cBEYONData to expand public sector technology offerings in support of customers’ planning, financial and analytical requirements.

“cBEYONData brings valuable scale and technical expertise to our strategic growth plan to expand our work supporting the business of government,” said LaMontagne. “cBEYONData’s successful solutions at the ‘nexus of data and dollars’ is particularly relevant today as government executives and senior military leaders focus on financial transparency and accountability.”

cBEYONData will continue to operate with its existing leadership team within the newly established Enterprise Systems and Solutions business unit led by SMX President Sandeep Dorawala.
