Commitment to National Security
DiFronzo currently serves as executive vice president of SAIC’s Air Force and combatant commands business group, which works to provide the U.S. Air Force, U.S. combatant commands and Department of Defense agencies with a variety of capabilities, including artificial intelligence, IT and C5ISR. In his current role, DiFronzo is in charge of the group’s strategy, business development and delivery of products and services.
DiFronzo is also chairman of the Department of Defense Group within Executive Mosaic’s 4×24 Executive Leadership program, a series of networking events for senior government contracting professionals aiming to foster collaboration between the public and private sectors. DiFronzo is leading the DOD Group for the second straight year.
Earlier in his career, DiFronzo had served in the Air Force for nearly three decades, taking on various positions of leadership, including as commander of various units and, notably, as vice commander of the 19th Air Force. He retired in 2007 with the rank of colonel.
Regarding DiFronzo’s latest Wash100 win, Jim Garrettson, CEO of Executive Mosaic and founder of the Wash100 Award, said, “Vinnie’s second Wash100 win is a well-earned nod to his leadership at SAIC and deep-rooted commitment to national security. An Air Force veteran, he brings firsthand mission understanding to his role overseeing Air Force and COCOM programs at SAIC. Whether driving IT modernization for NORAD and USNORTHCOM, steering SAIC’s defense growth, or shaping industry dialogue through the Potomac Officers Club and 4×24 Leadership Group, Vinnie is a great collaborator in the GovCon community.”
IT & Business Operations Modernization
With the help of DiFronzo, SAIC was able to secure multiple contracts through 2024 in support of the U.S. military and national defense. In September, the company received a contract worth $229 million from the Department of Defense to help the North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command manage, automate and modernize IT systems and components under the NORAD/USNORTHCOM Information Technology Enterprise Services program.
Commenting on the award, DiFronzo said, “NORAD and USNORTHCOM defend America and its people. SAIC is committed to delivering a highly-resilient, highly-available IT network for these warfighters who have a no-fail mission.”
Also, in March, SAIC was awarded by the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering a contract for the modernization of the office’s business operations. Worth $96 million, the contract called on SAIC to provide its data management, knowledge management and strategic planning capabilities.
Concerning the contract, DiFronzo said, “OUSD(R&E) is a critical and longtime SAIC customer, and this award builds on our ongoing delivery of powerful solutions and key expertise to advance our support of their mission.”
SAIC’s other awards through the year include a spot on a $1.9 billion contract to support U.S. Navy cyberspace operation systems and capabilities; a spot on a $1.5 billion Washington Headquarters Services contract for IT, cybersecurity and administrative support; a $444 million contract to help the Space Systems Command modernize space launch instrumentation; a $375 million contract to support the Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic in the fielding and integration of land-based vehicle platforms; and a potential $232 million task order to provide systems engineering and IT modernization support to help the U.S. Army build signals intelligence and electronic warfare systems.
Help for Military Families & Veterans
In addition to providing the military and defense agencies with IT and technology modernization support, SAIC has also, through the past year, provided help for military families and veterans. In September, the company partnered with the Air Force Aid Society to establish the Defense Sector Fund, which seeks to support airmen, guardians and their families in terms of education, community programs, disaster relief and emergency assistance. For 2024, the company’s contribution to the Fund aimed to support the “Bee” Arnold Spouse Tuition Program, which is meant to finance the pursuit of educational opportunities and job training by Air Force and Space Force spouses.
Regarding the collaboration, DiFronzo said, “SAIC is honored to partner with AFAS and play a pivotal role in ensuring that our airmen, guardians and their entire families have the resources they need both on and off the battlefield. As a retired Airman myself, I know first-hand the value AFAS provides and look forward to seeing how our support will open doors for educational and career opportunities.”
And in December, SAIC gave an additional $100,000 to Building Homes for Heroes, a non-profit organization that works to build and modify homes to gift them to veterans and their families. The two organizations have been partners since 2013 and the latest contribution brings SAIC’s total donations to BHH to over $840,000.
DiFronzo was present at the check presentation, during which he said, “For more than a decade, SAIC and our employees have actively supported Building Homes for Heroes and its mission – both financially and through volunteer service. With nearly a third of our workforce made up of veterans, the desire to give back runs deep in our culture, and we are incredibly proud to continue our partnership with BHH.”
With the help of DiFronzo, SAIC has been able to provide the U.S. military with networking, IT and various other technologies and services, bolstering its capability to ensure national security. DiFronzo also helped the company support servicemembers, veterans and their families as they strive to lead lives beyond the military. These are the kinds of contributions that the Wash100 Award honors and celebrates.
“The Wash100 Award is an honor, and it reflects the accomplishments of the amazing team I have the privilege to lead,” DiFronzo said, adding, “Our SAIC team impacts vital government programs every day. Our nation and world are safer thanks to them.”
Executive Mosaic congratulates Vincent DiFronzo and his team at SAIC for this momentous achievement.
